Manufacturing Plant

Root River Hardwoods|Manufacturing Plant Root River’s millwork manufacturing operation is designed to meet the needs of the custom builder from preliminary specifications and budget quoting through the final installations. Our trim pricing is based on width, thickness and lumber species. We do not need to change prices if the profiles change. Where Root River stands out is in the level of service that is provided after the purchase order.  We work closely with the project manager and the trim carpenter crew to solve installation problems.  We don’t dump off an undifferentiated pile of trim. Trim boards are cut to specified widths and are not limited to standard nominal sizes. Because Root River stocks one million board feet of hardwood lumber, we can quickly supply the job site with additions or changes. Our molders are set up for quick changing knives and short runs are not a problem.

Sawmill

Root River Hardwoods|SawmillRoot River Hardwoods is unique in the hardwood millwork, flooring and lumber industry. Root River has a logging operation which buys and harvests the finest Midwestern hardwoods in a roughly 200 mile radius from the Southeast tip of Minnesota.  Then the logs are processed at Root River’s modern sawmill In Preston, MN. Veneer quality logs are sold to plywood manufacturers, the other logs are run through computer controlled saws to maximize yield. The mill output is sorted into boards of high quality hardwoods for millwork, or to be used in industrial applications. The boards are stored in a climate controlled warehouse that contains one million board feet of more than 20 species of hardwood lumber. In its manufacturing facility Root River employs state of the art molders, surfacers, and dust collection equipment which produce the most uniform and highest quality moldings and flooring.
